We want you to feel proud of the results from all of your time and effort. Now that you have finished, you may have a few questions regarding what you can do in order to proudly present it in your home or better display it for a gift. We have put together this blog post in order to give you a few tips when it comes to framing and presenting your diamond painting, so that you can best encapsulate the true beauty of your artwork.
You may have asked yourself ‘Why would I frame my diamond painting?’
And the answer is; Because you deserve it! You should be proud to showcase the work that you have done and the time that you have spent on your diamond painting. We know that you will feel a sense of pride when you opt to use your diamond painting to decorate your home or to give as a gift to brighten up someone else’s space. It is worth taking the extra time to frame your piece because these incredible artworks really do pop when completed and framed appropriately.
How can I frame my diamond painting?
There are several options that you can choose when deciding how to frame your diamond painting. At the end of the day, it is entirely up to you what option best suits you and your budget. The framing itself can be an art project all on its own and we hope you find pleasure in presenting your diamond painting in a creative and fun way.
1.) Custom Framing
This is the most expensive option but can certainly produce a high end and professional looking result with very little effort, leaving you with more time to get onto your next diamond painting!
Places such as Staples and Michaels or other crafting stores both in person and online offer custom made frames that fit your diamond painting perfectly. Just enter the dimensions and receive a frame that you can fit your diamond painting into. Using acrylic clear on top rather than a glass is a very common way of protecting your piece.
2.) Second Hand
By heading to any thrift store or second hand store in your local area you can find very cheap frames in a variety of unique styles and sizes. Feel free to repaint these frames to give them a fresh look or perhaps a vintage look perfectly suits the style you are looking for.
Although this is a cheaper option, it may be more time consuming as many diamond painting canvases are not of a standard size. You may need to cut down your frame or use some other techniques to fill in the space in order to create a polished finished piece.
3.) Dollar Store Canvas
Another thrifty way to frame your diamond painting is to buy a $1 artist canvas from the $1 store and glue your diamond painting onto it. You can then use washi tape, paint or ribbon to decorate the edge of the canvas. This crafty and budget friendly way to present your diamond painting allows for further creativity beyond the diamond painting.
Commonly asked questions:
Do I need to seal my painting first?
No. When using one of our Dreamer Designs canvases, the diamonds are guaranteed to stay on for a lifetime as our adhesive is extremely strong. Glue is poured onto our canvases rather than the use of a double sided tape that is found in cheaper kits.
Do I need to apply washi tape to the edge of my canvas design?
Because our glue does not extend past the design, you do not need to cover the edge of your canvas with washi tape in order to keep a clean and fuzz free edge. However, If you wish to decorate the edge of your canvas with a ribbon or a textured velvet or silk to add an extra element to your diamond painting, then these can be very eye catching and attractive features between painting and frame.
We believe that hunting through thrift stores to find old frames is the most budget friendly and creative way to frame your diamond painting. There are boundless opportunities waiting for you and you can spend as little or as much time as you like in framing your artwork the way you would like. We have compiled a general set of instructions that should be able to guide you through framing your own diamond painting.
What you will need:
* Optional. If your frame is too large, consider using a textured silk, velvet or other fitting material as a border between canvas and frame. Your imagination really is your limit here when it comes to decorating your piece.
So there you have it! Framing your diamond painting is a brilliant way to showcase your hours of work so that you can proudly present it in your home on the wall or give as a gift that will be treasured for many years to come. By using old frames that you discover in thrift shops, you can add that extra touch of character to your painting and by painting the frame or adding an alternative border that additional element of personalization can really make your piece pop.
